A dress shop needs a name and an address to deliver a dress, and this letter says what happens to them. It describes cheerfulshopping.com as it runs today, checked against the site's own code before a word of it was written, and a practice absent from this letter is absent from the site. The company answerable for the information is MEGAN FAYE WARD LLC, trading as Cheerful Shopping, of 815 Reeder Rd, Little Rock, Arkansas.
What we collect: from you, and from the visit itself
Checkout asks for 5 things: your name, the delivery address, an email, and 2 lines you may leave blank, a phone line and a company line. The card number goes into a Stripe-supplied field and travels to Stripe; what returns to us is a payment confirmation with the card's brand and its final 4 digits. An account adds a password, stored hashed, and a birthday you may leave out, used for the birthday code and for nothing else. A message adds the message. A review adds the review and the name on it. The chat bubble adds whatever you type there, which the AI service that runs the bubble reads, plus the name and email you leave when you ask it for a person, which come to the office.
The visit leaves 3 traces of its own. Logs: the IP address, the browser, the device type, the pages requested, as any web server writes down. A page counter: the store software reports each open page to our own server every few seconds, with the page address and title, the address you came from and a session number chosen at random, so that we can see which dresses draw attention; no name and no email go with it, and nobody outside Cheerful Shopping reads it. Reports coming in: Stripe on whether a payment went through, the carriers with the scans on a parcel, the supply partner with the dispatch date and the tracking number. Third-party analytics, advertising pixels, session recorders, heat maps: none, and that is a statement about the page source as it reads today.
Why: 6 uses, and no seventh
Taking the order and handing the delivery details to the partner that packs it. Getting the parcel to you and answering where it is. Handling returns, refunds and cancellations. Answering what you write. Keeping the records that tax law and consumer law demand. Catching fraud, a stolen card above all. There is no seventh use. Nothing is sold, nothing is passed on for advertising, no profile of you is built, and no decision with a legal effect on you is left to a machine.
Emails: order emails always, marketing only when you tick the box
An order sends a small set of emails on its own: the confirmation, a note when packing begins, the dispatch email with the tracking number, and a refund confirmation when a refund is issued. 3 more follow delivery without any tick from you: a thank-you after a first order, a request for a review 3 days after delivery, and a note about related dresses 7 days after delivery. Each carries an unsubscribe link at its foot.
Marketing is a separate switch. The checkout carries a box about news and offers, and the account sign-up page carries a box about marketing email; both appear unticked and stay that way until you tick them. Once ticked, you may receive a welcome email with the code WELCOME5 for 5% off, a birthday email with BIRTHDAY10 for 10% off if you gave a birthday, a reminder about a cart or a dress you left behind, a note after a second or a third order, an anniversary note, a note when new dresses are listed, and a note if a long while passes without a visit. Both codes are real and work at checkout. Stopping them takes 1 click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of them, or 1 change of the switch in your account, either of which works at once; an email to contact@cheerfulshopping.com works too, within 10 business days. Text messages are never sent.
Cookies
Few cookies, and no cookie banner, because nothing optional is set for a banner to ask about. 1 cookie records the cookie setting itself; the store software writes it on its own even with nothing optional switched on. 1 cookie appears when a visit begins from a link with a campaign code in it and holds that code, the referring address and the first page opened, for 30 days, which tells us, if an order follows, which link the visit began from; it goes no further than us. 1 cookie holds the sign-in for an account. Stripe adds fraud-screening cookies of its own on the checkout page, under Stripe's privacy policy. The cart and the recently viewed list are kept by your browser itself, in local storage, and never reach our server. No cookie here serves advertising, and no cookie-settings button exists, since there is nothing for it to control. Block cookies in your browser and the cart empties on each visit; the rest of the site keeps working. Should analytics or advertising technology ever be added, a consent tool that reads browser signals such as Global Privacy Control goes in first, and this section and the page titled Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information change before the switch is thrown.
Who else sees it: 6 parties, each for 1 job
Stripe, for the payment, under its own privacy policy. The supply partner in China, which receives the name, the delivery address, the phone line if it was filled in, the style and the size, the minimum a parcel needs, and never the email address. The carriers, which receive what a delivery needs. The host of the store software and the sender of our emails, which hold data for us and may use none of it for themselves. The AI service that runs the chat bubble, for what is typed into it. A court or a public authority, where a legal order requires it, and then we tell you if the law lets us. No broker, no ad network, no marketing "partner" of any kind. The delivery details are the 1 set of personal information that leaves the United States, and they go to China to have a parcel packed.
How long, and how safe
Order records, holding name, address and the dresses bought, are kept for as many years as the tax rules require, then go. Support threads stay open until the matter ends and for a while afterward, in case it comes back. An account lasts until it is closed, by you or at your request. Logs overwrite themselves on a schedule. Every page is served over HTTPS. Card data sits with Stripe, not with us. The order records open only to the few people who ship and support orders, each under a login of their own. No promise of a system that cannot be broken appears here, because nobody can keep such a promise; a breach that touched your information would be reported to you by us, without waiting to be asked.
Your rights
Ask for the personal information held about you, ask for a correction, ask for deletion, ask for a copy you can take elsewhere, or withdraw a consent you gave. Write to contact@cheerfulshopping.com from the email the order carries, or from inside your account, under the subject "Privacy request". Receipt is confirmed within 12 hours on business days. We check the request against the order or the account it concerns and ask for no identity document, and the request is completed within 45 days, or within a further 45 for an unusual one, with notice before the first 45 end. A request changes no price and no service.
California residents
The CCPA, with its CPRA amendments, gives a resident of California 2 rights beyond those above: to stop a business selling or sharing personal information, and to limit what is done with sensitive personal information. Cheerful Shopping sells none, shares none, collects no sensitive personal information beyond what a payment needs, and has done none of this in the 12 months before the date above. The categories collected and the uses are those in the sections above. A request to opt out can still go on file, as the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page explains, and is completed within 15 business days; a request for access, correction or deletion follows the 45-day timeline above. Someone you have authorized in writing may act on your behalf.
Children
The dresses are for adults, and nothing here is directed at anyone under 18. Knowingly, nothing is collected from a child under 13, and none is knowingly sold or shared about anyone under 16. If a child under 13 has sent us information, 1 email to contact@cheerfulshopping.com is enough, and the record goes.
A link out to the tracking page of a carrier, or out to Stripe, leaves this site for a company with rules of its own, which this letter does not cover. Revisions: the date under the title records them, and a revision that alters what is done with your information is posted on the site ahead of its start date.
